A K Dolven
(born 1953) is one of Norway's most widely known artists internationally. She
lives in London and the Lofoten Islands, and her paintings, video works, films
and photographs have been displayed not only in important European galleries of
latest contemporary art but also in leading museums and art hall venues in
different parts of the world.
Dolven
chooses her medium according to the issue she is dealing with but painterly
compositions are often applied in her photographs and videos. Her works may
contain art-historical references, which, however, do not necessarily have to
be recognized in order to understand them. Classic compositions stress the
universality of the subject matter while contemporary clothing or music used connects
the works to the present time. Observation of gestures, strong presence and
time consumed all reveal the particularity and importance of the depicted
moment that first seemed to be just an ordinary scene from everyday life.
