Aurora Reinhard's (born 1975) oeuvre consists of photographs, videos, performances and objects. The central themes of her art are gender, sexuality and its manifestations and representations, and in particular the taboos associated with female sexuality. In her most recent works Reinhard studies the commercialization of the female face and body, and their use in the marketing of different products and services. Reinhard's works have the aim and ability of arousing strong emotional states in viewers, to the point of physicality. This may be one reason why they have been shown at many international art festivals and exhibitions, including the Fridericianum in Kassel and the Ludwig Museum in Cologne.
