Liisa Lounila (born 1976) has become known as a multidisciplinary artist, moving with ease from traditional oil painting to glitter paintings, videos or objects. She has gained international recognition, having been chosen to represent Finland in the Venice and Istanbul biennials, among other distinctions. In addition to many international group showings, she has had solo exhibitions at venues such as the well-known Wilkinson Gallery in London.
This exhibition features new glitter paintings. Lounila bases her glitter works on published images from the press and elsewhere. The theme of her show this spring will be the destruction of stored works of the Saatchi Collection in a fire.
